2012 Year of Travels (Korea, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Taipei, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Bruges)

With 11 trips in 2011, how was 2012 gonna top that? By traveling further I supposed.  I had 9 stamps in my passport with much further destinations this time round.

Kicking off the year was Korea.  My first tour group trip since my JC days and my first ever Korean visit saw me ski-ing for the first time, enjoying the local Jimjilbang, enduring -20 degrees temperature and catching up with my friend Christina over a meal:

After a tiring and fulfilling trip to Korea, I took a short break in KL in February before jetting off to HK again to explore the offshore islands:

I returned to KL for my short (belated) birthday getaway end April:

Had a staycation in JB for one night in June, but won't really count it as a part of my traveling for 2012.  Then came Aug when I flew to Taipei for the 2nd time:

Immediately upon my return, I jetted off to Copenhagen for a business trip, and took time to explore some of her famous landmarks:

September saw me occupied with my travel planning for the following month, which saw me made my first ever European holiday trip to Amsterdam, Bruges and other parts of the Netherlands:

After spending so much on traveling, I had to settle for a less exotic destination for my xmas getaway, driving up to KL:

2012 saw me exploring 4 new (and further) countries: South Korea, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands.  Definitely a year of good traveling memories.

2011 Year of Travels (Bangkok, Hua Hin, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Siam Reap, Port Dickson)

It's been over 3 years since I have last updated my blog...  Feels like it's a good time to provide a summary of all my travelings since 2011.  First up, the year 2011.  This year saw me stamping my passport for leisure 11 times, which kinda coincide with the year 2011 as well!

First up, it was Bangkok and Huahin in Jan/Feb:

Next up, it was driving up to KL in March and Melaka in April and again in June for a short getaway.  I supposed 2011 saw me visiting Melaka many times, because in July, I went again with Silke and Tridi.  The July trip saw Silke trying (and loving) durian flesh for the very first time!:

In Aug, I returned to KL for more feasting:

So far so good, very focused on Peninsula Malaysia.  Then came my continuous back-to-back flight schedule.  September saw me returning to the Land of Smiles, Bangkok, for some river experiences:

This was followed closely in mid Oct where I flew to HK for some dim sum:

I took to the skies again in 2 weeks' time to the ancient city of Siam Reap and visited the magnificient Angkor Wat:

With such back-to-back traveling, I had to take a 1.5 months' break before driving off north to KL and Port Dickson for Xmas:

All in all, 2011 was good, with an even mix of flight and road trips.  Visited 3 new cites of Siam Reap, HuaHin and Port Dickson.

2010, the Year of Travels

how do i put it without sounding arrogant? haha..but seriously, 2010 saw me travelling the most number of times, for leisure that is.

first up, it was Penang and then KL in Q1, 2010. Then April saw me flying for the 1st time to HK for 10 nights. I rounded up H1, 2010 with another visit to KL. Aug saw me flying to Phuket and Oct another KL trip. Dec flew me to Taipei and HK!

2011 will be relatively quiet, so far with Bangkok in Feb and potentially Melaka in Feb and Cameron Highlands in Mar for now. No further plans due to new job starting in Mar.. haiz.. but still feeling excited due to the new work environment coming up!

2011 will be a blast i am sure!

Jetaway Holidays!!

So far so good.. so good that I can't find time to blog!!

Since Dec 2009, I've been travelling every month!! wow! So nice.. wish that this can continue forever!!

Dec went to Thailand, which was updated in my previous entry. Then End-Jan went Penang via Jetstar until Early-Feb. Nice makan session throughout!! Next was the CNY, mandatory visit to JB to my granny's. Early March flew Jetstar again to KL, visiting Genting at the same time. All photos can be found via my shutterfly website. Then came the big one.... my birthday trip in April, also via Jetstar!!

It was my first visit to HK. The whole experience was peaceful and relaxed as I lazed around in the city for 8 full days (excluding arrival and departure days). Highlights included Disneyland and definitely my birthday dinner at The Peak. Unfortunately it was a foggy day so didnt see much. This 10 days away was continued with yet another Jetstar flight to KL immediately upon my return. This KL trip was for business, my 1st business trip since my 2008 Helsinki trip. Stayed at the wonderful Crowne Plaza hotel with the view of the Petronas Twin Towers.

5 Jetstar flights in 5 months. They should give me an award or something... kekeke.. Too bad May wont be travelling anywhere.. June potentially going to Melaka or KL (yea I know, again).. Then July potential company trip to Macau (I got a feeling it will be via Jetstar as well.. kekek).. Then Aug definitely via Jetstar to Phuket!!!

After Aug, it will be 3 full working months before I see the airport again... and potentially it may be a Jetstar destination as well.... shortlisting Korea and Taiwan.. Fingers Crossed.. keke.

holiday hangover

Was on leave from 22 Dec 2009.... that's 13 days of leave away from work.. well, not exactly 100% away from work.. I still managed to ring back SG while i was in BKK for 10 mins.

Now back at work, that blissful days of leave seems so far away......... and i'm missing it so much!

6 full days and 6 nites in Thailand saw me going for massages 5 times! Day 1 massage, Day 2 facial massage, Day 3 massage, Day 4 massage, Day 5 shopping, Day 6 massage.. haha.. the most number of massages consecutively ever! This was followed by 2 consecutive days of 11hrs sleep... (photos at http://deroldee.shutterfly.com/4284)

Getting back to reality at work seems a torture after that. but life must still go on, rite? have to work hard to get my efficiency level up to where it was in Dec 2009... THis year will be a great year for me, cos i believe it will be. Things will be smooth. Already packing the 1st 4 months with holidays, and planning 2010 year end escape.. keke.. now i need to plan for mid year and 3Q holiday break le.. keke..

Stay funky everyone!
